Manchester United set to pounce as Chelsea star looks to leave the club
Chelsea and Manchester United are natural rivals, but since Jose Mourinho defected to Old Trafford, the situation is more volatile than ever.
Given Mourinho and Antonio Conte do not seem to like each other at all, the clubs don’t look like doing each other a favour any time soon – yet Mourinho is eyeing Willian, one of the Chelsea players who gave their all for him, even during his final days as Blues manager.
Willian turned down the chance to leave Chelsea in the summer, with Mourinho keen on bringing him to Old Trafford, yet now after failing to impress Conte, who prefers Pedro on the wing, it seems a move may be on the cards after all.
While Willian is looking to leave Old Trafford, Chelsea would be seriously reluctant to allow him to go to a rival side – and to Mourinho to boot.
Willian only penned a new deal last summer, after being named the Player of the Season for Chelsea – and the contract is four years long, yet he’s made it clear to the club he will assess his future after feeling that there is little support for him with Conte as manager, and failing to oust the likes of Pedro in the starting line up.
