Manchester United set to hold sensational talks with Zlatan and want to keep the forward at the club despite his injury in a coaching role
Manchester United are set to hold sensational talks with Zlatan Ibrahimvoic in order to keep the player at Old Trafford.
While his knee injury will keep him from playing until next year at the earliest, United and Jose Mourinho know how important the player has been this season – both in terms of his goals and also the work he’s done with younger players off the field, and will try and keep the player at the club in some capacity.
Mourinho is no stranger to doing that with older players, and has done so with Didier Drogba in his second spell at Chelsea – and United now want Zlatan as a coach.
The deal would make sense for Zlatan – it would keep him busy during his rehab period and still involved in the game, and would also allow him to return to playing with United should he and the club feel he is up to it.
A one year coaching deal would even allow him to leave United at the end of the contract for a MLS side or one in China should he want to carry on playing.
Mourinho will look to bring in at least a couple of forwards come the summer, but the renewed trust in Rashford and Martial may also have an impact on that.
