Manchester United set for five player clear-out as Jose Mourinho looks to freshen up Old Trafford squad ahead of £200m SpreePublished June 20, 2016
Jose Mourinho means business.
The newly installed Manchester United boss is ready to trim some deadwood and as many as five first-team stars could be on their way out ahead of Mourinho’s push to spend big during the summer transfer window.
The Spaniard has had an up and down time of it since leaving Chelsea for Man United and by all accounts Mourinho is ready to offload the attacking midfielder and there will surely be no shortage of interested parties. It was Mourinho who opted to sell Mata to the Old Trafford side back in January 2014 and as such the 28-year-0ld would have to be fearful of his future.
The versatile Dutchman is said to be an Arsenal target (via the Daily Mirror) and it’s likely that the arrival of Eric Bailly will greatly affect the former Ajax man’s chances of a starting spot next season. Blind is a solid option across a number of positions and Arsene Wenger could make good use of the 26-year-old.
Jose Mourinho is ready to use the full-back as bait in his pursuit of Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic with soon-to-be Blues boss Antonio Conte keen to land his Italian national team charge. A move to West London could tempt the 26-year-old and this deal is perhaps a ‘goer’.
The stylish winger arrived with a fanfare but quickly faded into obscurity during his debut season at Old Trafford and there is every chance Man United could sell the former PSV Eindhoven man. Mourinho is ready to stick with youngsters Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford and the Daily Express believes the Dutchman is on his way out.
Another player who is yet to really impress at Old Trafford and a player who must surely be worrying about his future under Jose Mourinho. The Daily Express believe the Belgian could be one of a number of players on their way out ahead of a reported £200m spending spree.
