Manchester United set for eleventh hour bid for in-demand striker
Manchester United are planning a late bid to hijack Paris Saint-Germain’s move for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, per Metro.
Aubameyang, 27, scored 35 goals for the German side last season, but has informed them he wants to leave this summer. It is believed a £61million deal has already been agreed with PSG.
But United, who are in need of a new striker this summer, with both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney likely to leave Old Trafford this summer, hope to steal in at the very last minute.
Jose Mourinho has been able to bring Champions League football back to the Red Devils in his first season, despite finishing sixth in the Premier League, after winning the Europa League.
The coach he defeated in the final, Ajax’s Peter Bosz, has since replaced Thomas Tuchel at Dortmund, and could have the final say on Aubameyang’s future.
The Gabon striker has also been linked with Real Madrid, whom he is believed to be keen on playing for after a promise made to his grandmother.
