The transfer window may only have been shut a matter of weeks, but that doesn’t mean clubs have stopped planning for any future deals come January.
And according to reports coming out of Portugal, two of the world’s biggest clubs, Manchester United and Real Madrid are already eyeing up potential deals.
According to Portuguese outlet Record, both United and the La Liga giants, are monitoring Sporting Lisbon’s outstanding young winger Gelson Martins.
The 21-year-old has grabbed the wider attention of European football for his dazzling performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League on September 14, and it’s believed that Sporting’s president, Bruno de Carvalho, wants to extend the player’s contract as the interest from United and Madrid grows.
“In Portugal there is no one like him,” Sporting manager Jorge Jesus said about the speedster.
With Real currently serving a transfer ban, United are reportedly clear favourites in the race to sign the exciting Portuguese starlet, and it’s now believed that Reds boss Jose Mourinho is watching the player’s developments very closely.
