Manchester United open talks to sign Superb Midfield Maestro: £70m rated star strongly linked with Premier League switch
Manchester United have targeted Paris Saint Germain midfielder Marco Verratti ahead of the 2017/18 Premier League Season.
Italian outlet, Tuttomercatoweb, reported the Red Devil’s top scout, Jose Mayorga, contacted Verratti’s representatives.
The 24-year-old has been a top choice for Barcelona, as they look to add depth to the midfield, but have been unable to agree on fee of around £70 million. The English giants join the race, as manager, José Mourinho, is desperate to land the PSG midfielder.
United finished last season’s campaign in sixth, and despite Mourinho lifting the English League Cup and Europa League, the Special One is desperate to add more Premier League titles to the club.
Verratti have been with the Parisian side since 2012, scoring five goals and making 134 appearances for the club. He signed a five-year contract last summer which would keep him at the French club until 2021, as the team repeatedly stated he’s not for sale.
If Manchester look to add more depth to the club, they will need to reach deep into their pockets to swoop the Italian midfielder.
