Manchester United to offload first-team quartet to help balance books after £89m Pogba signingPublished August 9, 2016
Manchester United will look to find buyers for a quartet of first-team stars as Jose Mourinho looks to balance the books following the club’s £89m Paul Pogba capture according to the Daily Telegraph.
Manchester United have forked out over £150m on new signings this summer and as such it’s no surprise that the club will look to trim their squad, this would also aid to cut their wage bill, and with this in mind the likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and Juan Mata are all said to be on their way out.
Of the four players veteran German Schweinsteiger won’t secure a big sum but the departure of the remaining trio could net around £50m and Mourinho may well feel that their exits will not harm his first-team squad unduly.
Spaniard Mata suffered the shame of being a subbed sub during Man United’s Community Shield win over Leicester City on the weekend and this may prove the final nail in his Old Trafford coffin, with Mourinho seemingly not a fan of the pint-sized playmaker.
