Manchester United edge closer to superb £30m Arsenal swap deal that would suit both clubs perfectly
Manchester United are reportedly hot on the heels of unhappy Arsenal bit-part player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin according to the Sunday Mirror.

The 23-year-old England international has less than 18 months left on his current Gunners contract and thus far talks to extend that deal have not been fruitful.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has made 21 Premier League appearances this season though 11 of these have come from the bench and Mourinho is reportedly considering a £30m move for the former Southampton man, an offer that may well be considered by Arsene Wenger.
However the Sunday Mirror claims that this could turn into a swap deal with Arsenal’s ongoing interest in Old Trafford defender Chris Smalling moving in the opposite direction.
Mourinho may be ready to sacrifice the 27-year-old given his other defensive options, and the Man United manager’s interest in Benfica’s Victor Lindelof, a player exchange could benefit all parties.
This source sees Oxlade-Chamberlain as a potential long-term replacement for veteran Micheal Carrick, which seems a bit of a big ask.
Whilst Oxlade-Chamberlain has impressed in a central midfield role of late but isn’t in the same league as the long-term Man United servant.
Arsene Wenger may feel the need for further central defensive options with Laurent Koscielny arguably his only consistent performer.
Smalling left Fulham for Man United back in 2010 and has made a total of 230 appearances for the club but has struggled for form under Mourinho, starting just nine of the club’s 25 Premier League fixtures to date.
