Manchester United agree £75m fee with Everton for Romelu Lukaku
According to the BBC, Manchester United have agreed a fee of around £75m with Everton for Romelu Lukaku.
The 24-year-old striker scored 25 Premier League goals last season and had been closely linked with a return to Chelsea.
United, who have been chasing Lukaku for most of the summer, will not now be pursuing their interest in Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata.
It is also believed that United’s move for Lukaku is not connected to talks aimed at taking United forward Wayne Rooney to Everton.
Jose Mourinho will be hopeful of concluding a deal in time for Lukaku to join the squad before they depart for the club’s pre-season tour to America on Sunday.
Lukaku’s agent Mino Raiola, who also looks after Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan – took three players to United last summer.
It comes as no surprise that United would rain on Arsenal’s parade, agreeing on this deal 24 hours after Arsenal broke their transfer record for Alexandre Lacazette.
