Manchester City set to sign title-winning Ligue 1 star
Manchester City are closing in on the signing of Monaco utility man Fabinho, with the Brazilian choosing them over city rivals United, per The Sun.
Fabinho, 23, can play either fullback or in central midfield and has played a key role in his side’s run to the Ligue 1 title and Champions League semi finals this season.
He has attracted interest from the Premier League this summer, as well as some of his teammates, including Tiemoue Bakayoko, Bernardo Silva and Kylian Mbappe.
According to the report, Jose Mourinho was keen to take him to Old Trafford, but it appears he has opted to join Pep Guardiola’s City revolution.
The boss sees Fabinho filling the gap likely to be vacated by Yaya Toure at the end of the season, with the 33-year-old’s contract running out this summer.
