Manchester City confirm interest in ‘next Zlatan’Published November 25, 2016
Manchester City scout Sebastian Arnsen has confirmed the club’s interest in Ajax’s teenage sensation Kasper Dolberg.
Dubbed the ‘new Zlatan’ in light of his superb all-round game, 19-year-old Dolberg has enjoyed a rapid rise to prominence so far this season.
Scorer of a quick-fire hat-trick in Saturday’s 5-0 win over NEC, the Denmark-born starlet has netted an impressive 10 goals in 16 appearances so far this season, alerting some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
And Arnsen, who was in the Dutch capital on Thursday evening to watch the player, confirmed to Danish newspaper BT before the game that the Citizens were contemplating a move.
“We are keeping a very close eye on him, and when the time is right we’ll make a decision on whether we should act,” he said.
“He has a huge potential. He is tall, strong, brave and quick. He has an excellent touch, can play with his back to the goal and take the right decisions.
“And he can finish anywhere in the field. He is so special, and therefore he is of course also on the radar.”
An unused substitute in the match, Dolberg watched on from the bench as his teammates recorded a comfortable 2-0 win over their Greek counterparts.
But perhaps of more interest to City scouts was the Danish striker’s first-half hat-trick against NEC over the weekend.
Showcasing his ability in full, the teenager opened the scoring with an emphatic finish into the roof of the net following a bulldozing individual run, before proceeding to double his tally with a sweeping finish from inside the box.
He completed his treble with a smart near-post header and will no doubt have drawn admiring glances from across Europe after the performance.

Everton have also been credited with an interest in Dolberg, who seems more likely to swap clubs over the summer than in the winter window.
