Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola set to unleash German sensation Leroy Sane against Manchester UnitedPublished September 9, 2016
As far as debut goes, Leroy Sane’s Manchester City bow could go down as one of the biggest ever.
A Premier League debut in itself is a scary feat, but considering the German starlet’s first City appearance could be in the biggest Manchester derby of all time, adds a specific element of significance.
It’s understood that the German sensation is being considered for selection by Pep Guardiola and could even start at the heart of the City attack against United come the lunchtime kick-off.
With Sergio Aguero, suspended for the all-important clash, the 22-year-old, signed from Germany for £40m, is now on course to make his long awaited City bow after a hamstring injury has kept him out of the side during the start of the season.
An appearance in the eagerly-anticipated fixture at Old Trafford could prove a baptism of fire. The match has been heavily hyped, with both clubs having recruited significantly over the summer and having started their Premier League campaigns well.
But by judging by the sounds of it, Sane, is ready.
Speaking to the City official website, Sane said: ‘I feel good now and I think I’m ready to play. I’ve trained well and my hamstring is fine so I’m looking forward to finally getting started.’
‘I’ve played in derby games in Germany but this should be a great match and one I’m really looking forward to, especially because Pep Guardiola is taking on Jose Mourinho.
‘It should be a special game and we can sense the expectation all around the city from our supporters.
‘It’s going to be exciting and I hope I can play some part and help us bring back three points.’
It will be interesting to see whether Pep Guardiola takes a risk on the German sensation, or decides to play it safe and go for the more tried and tested option of Nigerian teenager, Kelechi Iheanacho.
We can’t wait to find out!
