Man United's £221m summer transfer plans should SCARE the life out of Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal!
Manchester United are drawing up a list of players who could re-launch the club back to the summit of English and European football for the summer transfer window.
AMAZING PADDY POWER OFFER!
Jose Mourinho has had a mixed first season at Old Trafford since replacing Louis van Gaal. He may have won the League Cup and be in the running to clinch the Europa League, but his failure to challenge for the title or even guarantee Champions League football through finishing in the top four of the Premier League shows he still has work to do.
The Portuguese has always done excellent work in the transfer market throughout his career. Last summer he signed four players in the shape of Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and his defence and attack are what will get the most strengthening this year.
Local newspaper, the Manchester Evening News, is reporting that United have another four players in mind. An £86million deal for Antoine Griezmann could already be set up, with the Red Devils keen to pay the Atletico Madrid man’s buyout clause at the Vicente Calderon. Griezmann has a well-documented friendship with Pogba, who he regularly asks about the Premier League and has previously admitted he would like to play with at club level.
Everton striker Romelu Lukaku could also move across the North West after admitting he will not sign a new contract at Goodison Park. Lukaku, who turns 24 this month, has scored 24 goals in the Premier League this season, making him the league’s top scorer. Mourinho, while at Chelsea, sold him to the Toffees for £28millon in 2014, but the pair could be set for a reunion in a stunning £85million deal.
United will look to another of Mourinho’s former Stamford Bridge charges in order to strengthen their defence. Kurt Zouma’s career with the Blues has been put on hold after he suffered a serious knee injury, and the 22-year-old could find opportunities tough to come by under Antonio Conte. The £28million-rated Frenchman is one of the most exciting young defenders around and could be perfect to step into Smalling’s boots, with Mourinho still questioning the Englishman’s mental strength.
Former defender Michael Keane, who was sold to Burnley in 2015, has impressed on the Clarets Premier League return this season and as such is a reported target. Keane, 24, is set to depart Turf Moor, but could cost as much as £22million. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are also said to be interested.
