Manchester United set sights on £40m rated defender as Jose Mourinho looks to continue summer spendingPublished July 20, 2016
Manchester United are reportedly readying a move for Everton defender John Stones according to The Times (via the Metro), as Jose Mourinho continues to undertake an extensive squad shake-up.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Eric Bailly have already arrived this summer and Paul Pogba is also said to be on Mourinho’s wish-list, but more funds are being made available to the new Man United boss as he looks to get the Old Trafford back on track.
The 22-year-old came close to joining Chelsea last summer, the West London side failing with three bids for the England international, and now Man United are in for the youngster.
Everton have brought in Ronald Koeman and new owners are set to make money available for major signings this summer and Stones may hang around to see how things progess before deciding on any potential departure.
Stones has made 95 appearances for Everton since his move to the club from Barnsley, a transfer that cost just £3m and the Merseyside outfit stand to make a healthy profit should they lose the player.
