Liverpool target shock move for goalkeeping legend
Liverpool could be set to sign Spain legend Iker Casillas to solve their goalkeeping issues this summer, per The Guardian.
Casillas, 36, is able to leave Portuguese side FC Porto on a free transfer this summer. Having finished behind Benfica in the league, the club also sacked their manager Nuno Esperito Santo.
It looks likely that the former Real Madrid stopper will depart, and Anfield could be a shock destination, with the possibility of ending his career in the Premier League.
Some may say Casillas is past his best, but both Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet struggled between the sticks at tines this season, and Jurgen Klopp may look elsewhere.
Klopp does traditionally prefer youth to experience, and Casillas’ wage demands could be an issue, but the stopper could be a safe pair of hands having won everything worth winning during his career, spanning over two decades.
It could be a decisive summer for the Reds, who will be able to offer Champions League football next season, provided they can win a playoff in August.
