Liverpool set to win £25million race for Premier League star
Liverpool are close to signing Burnley defender Michael Keane from under the noses of his former club Manchester United, per the Daily Mirror.
Keane, 24, has impressed in the Premier League with the Clarets this season, and they are all set for another season in the top flight after Sean Dyche guided them to survival.
But it could come at a cost, with the defender they signed from United in high demand this summer. The report claims the Reds have offered £25million for him.
United are keen to lure him back to Old Trafford, while Everton are also keeping tabs on him, but it appears Jurgen Klopp has stolen a march on the competition.
The England defender, who earned his first cap this season, is said to be waiting to see if the Anfield club qualify for the Champions League next season before committing to the four-year contract.
Klopp’s side have struggled defensively this term, with Dejan Lovren in particular coming in for some heavy criticism.
