Liverpool prepared to make move for Ipswich wonderkidPublished November 2, 2016
Liverpool are preparing to make a bid for Ipswich wonderkid Andre Dozzell in January, according to the Sun. The club have been tracking the teenager for a while and wanted to sign him in the summer. However, the 17-year-old, who scored on his Ipswich debut in April, wanted to stay for a full season of Championship football.
Having only played 45 minutes in the League Cup this season, that act of loyalty hasn’t paid off for Dozzell. The son of former Ipswich and Spurs midfielder Jason Dozzell, he plays in the same position as his father and is being tipped for big things.
A £2 million bid would test the resolve of the second tier club.
Liverpool will probably go into these negotiations bearing in mind the debacle surrounding Dele Alli. They had been tracking the talented teen for months but were haggling with MK Dons over a relatively small sum of money. Spurs swooped up in, agreed to pay £5m and Alli instantly became a key part of their title-challenging side.
