Liverpool make approach for Inter Milan midfielder Gary MedelPublished August 16, 2016
Liverpool have made an offer for former Cardiff City midfielder Gary Medel, according to reports in Italy.
The 29-year-old, who has been at Inter since leaving Cardiff in 2014, has become a key member of the first team at the San Siro.
Reports earlier this summer had suggested that Jurgen Klopp was considering a move for the tough-tackling Chilean, as he bids to firm up his talented squad.
And now, according to Corriere della Sera, Liverpool have made contact with Inter about a deal for Medel.
It is understood that talks are underway, which could see a swap deal take place, between Medel and Lucas Leiva, with Inter understood to be keen on a deal for the Reds midfielder.
Whilst on the face of it, this story could be laughed off as paper talk, the one difference—and one that makes Medel an interesting rumour for Liverpool fans, is that the 29-year-old has experience filling in not just in central defence but at fullback, two areas in which the Reds are searching for reinforcements.
Whilst the signing of Gary Medel, might not be eye catching for fans at Anfield, the Chilean could be exactly the type of player that Jurgen Klopp is looking for as the German looks to add to his squad before the end of the transfer window on August 31.
