Liverpool linked with shock move for £65m Real Madrid star: Anfield side one of three clubs chasing world-class talent
Liverpool are reportedly one of three clubs hot on the heels of Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos according to the Daily Star.
The experienced defender is apparently a player the Bernabeu side are ready to let go due chiefly to a breakdown in the relationship between the Spanish international and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
Last summer Real Madrid slapped a massive £65m price-tag on the former Sevilla man but one imagines the Spanish giants would now accept a lesser fee if indeed they do not value his services.
Ramos moved to Real in 2005 and has racked up 487 appearances over the past decade plus, but has at times had something of a love/hate relationship with the club’s fans.
The 30-year-old’s temperament is known to be a real issue and Ramos is well known for his propensity for picking up red cards but is arguably still one of the best defenders in world football, and as such it’s a tough ask for Liverpool to land such a massive talent.
PSG and Bayern Munich are also keen on Ramos and may be more likely to pull off such a stellar signing, not least as the pair can guarantee Champions League action.
