Liverpool identify this superstar if they reach the Champions League
Liverpool are confident they can seal a deal for Real Madrid’s unsettled playmaker James Rodriguez this summer – provided they make the Champions League, per the Daily Mirror.
Rodriguez is a long time target of the Reds, but they’ve been constantly shunned when attempting to negotiate a transfer in the past.
But the 25-year-old’s failure to establish himself as a first team regular under boss Zinedine Zidane has increased the likelihood of a summer exit from the Santiago Bernabeu.
Having signed him from Monaco in a £73million deal in 2014, after a stunning individual performance at the World Cup with Colombia, Real are likely to recoup a hefty chunk of that fee.
The Mirror claim Liverpool are willing to pay £65million, an amount they believe will lure him to Anfield if they reach Europe’s premier club competition ahead of next season. They are currently fourth in the Premier League.

After a positive first season in Spain under Carlo Ancelotti, Rodriguez has lost his way after falling out of favour with the Italian’s successor Rafa Benitez and now Zidane.
