Jurgen Klopp dismisses talk of Liverpool signing a new goalkeeper
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed he is not interested in signing Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart, who is currently on loan at Serie A side Torino.
The England international is currently out-of-favour with City manager Pep Guardiola with the situation showing no signs of improving despite their standard of goalkeepers being below par.
Klopp, too, has had issues with goalkeepers since arriving at Liverpool with £4.7million summer signing Loris Karius failing to convince and being dropped for Simon Mignolet – the goalkeeper he was brought in to replace.
However, in recent weeks, Mignolet has improved saving Liverpool several points in their pursuit for a top four finish.
And, when journalists alluded to the Hart rumours in Thursday’s press conference, Klopp insisted he has no reason to sign another goalkeeper.
“Extra competition? You ask about goalkeepers but even though you don’t say the name is it about Joe Hart?
“We don’t usually talk about these sort of things but in this particular case I think we can.
“He is a fantastic goalkeeper, the goalkeeper of the English national team, the highest quality, but we have highest-quality goalkeepers.
“It’s not for us in this moment and hopefully not for us in the future – not because of Joe but we already have two strong goalkeepers.”
There Mr. Klopp, I can’t help but disagree.
