The Spaniard has 18 months left on his contract at Old Trafford but has admitted he doesn’t now what will happen with his future.
Mata also expressed his desire to return to Spain in the near future and with 18 months left on his current deal, he could move sooner than later.
“I don’t know what will happen,” he explained.
“I’ve been asked before, and I don’t know.”

The player did admit that he is happy in England, so there would be no need for Manchester United to panic just yet.
Still, his desire to return to his homeland as well as a short time left on his current deal could mean that he will not be at Old Trafford for much longer.
“I would like to play again back at home,” Mata explained.
The midfielder is currently the club’s second highest scorer this season on nine, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic on an astonishing 20 goals.
