Jose Mourinho ready to rival Chelsea for star striker this summer
He’s already Judas in the eyes of Chelsea fans, and now, former Blues manager Jose Mourinho is set to anger the Stamford Bridge faithful even more, by going head to head for Romelu Lukaku.
Ed Woodward was spotted talking to Lukaku’s agent, and given the Everton forward is akin to Didier Drogba, a forward Mourinho worked well with and loved, it’s no surprise he’s keen on bringing him to Old Trafford.
As if the Chelsea v Manchester United battle isn’t enough, the other intriguing twist to the tale is the fact Mourinho sold the forward to Everton during his time as Chelsea boss – however, Lukaku has made it clear he still likes Mourinho, there’s no hard feelings, and he would work with his former manager again.
With Diego Costa possibly set to go this summer, Chelsea will be looking for a new forward – and it of course means Lukaku and the likes of Alvaro Morata are also on the list for Antonio Conte, meaning there could be a huge change for Chelsea come the summer in terms of their forward players.
Of course, landing the likes of Lukaku will not come cheap, and both Mourinho and Conte will be aware of that, with fees of £65 million quoted.
