Jose Mourinho issues incredible transfer demand to Ed Woodward
Jose Mourinho is a demanding man.
That much is already known in football, and it seems that he’s been at it again, asking for yet more players from his board.
Mourinho has made it very clear he’s not too happy with the summer transfer window, and while he has blamed it more on the transfer market and the crazy fees – much like other managers bar it seems Pep Guardiola – he also wants his board to act if they want success next season.
Mourinho asked for four players at the start of the summer, and so far has only seen two of them – Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku arrive – with links to Ivan Perisic fading by the day, and the chase for a holding midfielder proving harder than Mourinho would have wanted.
Now, in a tactic that many will think is just designed to pressure Ed Woodard and the board into signing more players, he has been nothing if not blunt when asked about his side and his view on them.
He was questioned about landing new players ahead of their clash with Barcelona and said: “I don’t know, honestly, Ed is in control, he did Lindelof and Lukaku, he knows that I would like two more players but he also knows that I have balance, I depend on the situation, the market, and if my club is unable to do two players and just one, I accept that as a consequence of the market now.
“Our relationship is good and I just wait for good news, and good news is to have the players, maybe just the player as soon as possible because to work together with the team is really important.
“But I’m calm, I like my players, I like my squad, I trust them, so I’m calm and that’s important.”
