John Terry: Hide Your Wives, the Most Hated Man in Football is Looking for a New Club!Published February 1, 2016
There are few players in the modern game who engender quite as much hatred than Chelsea veteran John Terry and the centre-back announced on Sunday evening that he will now be looking for a new club.
You have been warned!
Terry has been involved in some unsavoury incidents both on and off the field of play, mostly off, and as such it’s not as if the Blues star doesn’t deserve the ire of the football loving public. However it would be wrong to ignore the fact that the one-club-man is arguably one of the best defenders of the modern footballing era.
For those of you who are unaware of Terry’s long list of misdemeanours, here’s a quick run-down.
- September 2001 – John Terry, and other Chelsea players, fined following an ‘incident’ involving abusing American tourists at Heathrow airport in the days directly after the September 11 attacks.
- 2002 – Implicated, but cleared, of involvement in an attack on a nightclub bouncer
- 2009 – Has affair with fiancé of team-mate Wayne Bridge, Vanessa Perroncel, which led to Fabio Capello taking the England captaincy from Terry.
- 2012 – Fined and handed ban by the FA for racially abusing Anton Ferdinand during a match at the tail-end of 2011.
Terry has ‘cleaned’ up his act a fair bit of late and last season the Chelsea man played every single minute of the West London club’s successful Premier League title winning campaign.
2015/16 hasn’t been a picnic though.
Jose Mourinho dropped Terry on a number of occasions before the Portuguese manager was axed and though Guus Hiddink has used the 35 year old frequently it appears his Chelsea days are coming towards a somewhat anti-climactic end.
SkyBet are now offering odds on where Terry may pitch-up next and there are some interesting bets available.
Terry himself has more or less ruled out the possibility of playing for another Premier League side and as such odds of such a move are long indeed.
A move to the MLS, to any MLS club, is priced at 1/5 and Terry would then join a recent list of former England national team stars plying their trade stateside, reuniting with the likes of Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole and Steven Gerrard in the American top tier.
You can get 4/1 on a move to the Chinese Premier League and if you wish to waste your hard earned cash then SkyBet offers 25/1 on John Terry completing a summer transfer to Liverpool!
