Inter plot stunning £13m-a-year raid to take Chelsea manager to San SiroPublished February 5, 2017
Internazionale are prepared to offer Antonio Conte an annual salary of £13m to tempt him away from Chelsea.
The historic Milanese club are flush with cash following the summer arrival of Chinese investors Suning Commerce Group, and are plotting a big-money offer to lure Italian Conte back to his homeland as part of their ambitious project.
Inter started the season with Frank De Boer as head coach, but the Dutchman was swiftly replaced by current incumbent Stefano Pioli, who has taken 25 points from 30 in the league since his appointment.
However, doubts remain at the San Siro over the 51-year-old’s credentials, with Suning reportedly keen to attract a high-profile name such as former Azzurri coach Conte to signal their intent.
Italian outlet Tuttosport claims that the Chinese consortium have been so impressed with the Chelsea boss’ exploits this season that they are considering handing him a massive salary and a transfer budget of £350m per year to get the deal over the line.
The 47-year-old has turned the Blues from 10th place finishers in 2015/16 to league leaders this time around, and Stamford Bridge chiefs would no doubt be loath to lose his expertise.
Chelsea went 9 points clear at the top of the Premier League table with a 3-1 win over London rivals Arsenal on Saturday.
