Heung-Min Son wanted to take penalty against Man City, Erik Lamela refused to let him (Video)Published October 2, 2016
Mauricio Pochettino must be a happy man after seeing his Spurs side sweep aside Manchester City with an electric performance at White Hart Lane. However, it wasn’t without its negative points. One moment that he definitely wouldn’t have been happy with is the penalty incident in the second half.
His anger won’t have anything to do with the decision – it was given in Spurs’ favour – but rather the conduct of two of his players in taking it. Erik Lamela had the ball in his hands but it’s not entirely clear who Tottenham’s designated penalty taker is in the absence of Harry Kane.
Heung-Min Son was keen to take it. An attacker who is in red hot form at the minute, he blocked Lamela’s path and tried to get the ball off him. It was only the intervention of a teammate that brought his protest to an end. Watch the incident unfold in the vine below.
