'He's like Messi!' - Belgium boss hails international star after sublime goal
Following his solo goal which helped Chelsea ease past Arsenal on Saturday, Eden Hazard has been compared to Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi by his Belgium boss Roberto Martinez.
The 26-year-old has been in sumptuous form all season, helping the Blues to the top of the Premier League and on the brink of their second title in three years.
Following Marco Alonso’s opener on Saturday, Hazard scored an amazing goal by running half of the length of the pitch before slotting past former teammate Petr Cech in the Arsenal goal.
Martinez, who was speaking to Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday, could not hold back with his praise of the star.
“What he does is quite unique,” said the Spaniard.
“The way he uses the ball with his feet is sensational. He reminds me a lot of Messi.
:Not many players can control the moment and take the defenders where you want to take them.”
The result, which was 3-1 in the end, leaves Chelsea 12 points clear of their opponents, who now face a battle to secure a place in the Champions League next season.
