Henrikh Mkhitaryan responds to Dortmund allegations
Henrikh Mkhitaryan is beginning to show his worth at Manchester United after a difficult first few months at the club.
Jose Mourinho did not believe he was immediately ready for the English game and decided to ease him in rather than rush proceedings.
But now Mkhitaryan is being tipped as a better number 10 than the likes of Mesut Ozil, David Silva and United teammate Juan Mata.
Mkhitaryan has two goals in his past three games for United, which replicates the form that saw him become the Bundesliga player of the season in 2015/16.
However, a deal with United occurred after Mkhitaryan refused to renew his Borussia Dortmund contract, so on Wednesday he gave an interview to Bild to defend himself over some allegations made by Dortmund.
Mhitaryan has been jeered by some Dortmund fans who say he moved to United to earn more money.
Mkhitaryan said: “I can not understand that, and that’s wrong. If it were just about money, I would have transferred from Shakhtar Donetsk to Anzhi Makhachkala and not to Borussia Dortmund. But I did not want that. I wanted to develop further.”
The Manchester United man was also asked about teammate Bastian Schweinsteiger: “I’m glad he got another chance. He knows exactly what needs to be done on the pitch. I can only report positively about him, because he has a great character.”
