Gunners linked with £50m move for Monaco midfielder
Arsenal have been targeting Thomas Lemar all summer, with two bids rejected already. Arsène Wenger is expected to make another offer, as the Sun reported the Premier League club have made progress.
The 21-year-old joined Monaco two years ago, after starting his senior career with Caen in 2013. The French international has been a top target for Wenger, and has already agreed to terms with Arsenal, but Monaco is demanding £80m for the midfielder.
Lemar scored 14 goals and made 55 appearances last season, helping his club dethrone Paris Saint Germain, as they lifted the French title. Monaco also made noise in Europe as they reached the Champions League semi-final, despite losing to Juventus.
If Lemar makes a move to North London this summer, Alexis Sánchez is expected to leave the club. The Chilean international have expressed interest in leaving, as Manchester City leads the race to sign the 28-year-old winger.
Arsenal signed Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette for a club record fee of £52.7m earlier this month, and hoping to add another French star ahead of the 2017/18 season.
