French legend: Why Griezmann WILL join United in £80m summer switchPublished February 23, 2017
Emmanuel Petit believes Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann is destined to join Manchester United this summer in a big-money switch.
The exciting French forward has been repeatedly linked with a move to Old Trafford over the past year, with speculation mounting that he is Jose Mourinho’s top target for the forthcoming summer transfer window.
And France legend Petit, who won the World Cup in his homeland back in 1998, is adamant that the 25-year-old’s friendship with United midfielder Paul Pogba could be the clinching factor in any potential move.
“I think he will come to Manchester United, definitely,” Petit told Soccer AM.
“He has a great partnership with Pogba in the national team, they are very good friends as well.”
In a tantalising interview for United fans, the ex-Arsenal midfielder also suggested that a hefty price tag of a reported £80m would still be value for money for the north-west giants.
“He will bring goals, assists and his winning mentality as well,” he added.
“Griezmann over the last four years has improved step by step.
“Every single year he has improved his level all the time so he’s got big ambition personally but as well with the team he’s playing for.
“For me it would be a big bargain for Manchester United.”
Griezmann has struck 74 goals in 141 games for Atletico Madrid since joining in 2014.
