Surely not.

In today’s game it’s not uncommon for former players to return to their old clubs, in a bid to complete some unfinished business, with David Luiz’s sensational return to Stamford Bridge last month just one example.

But, the latest rumours coming out of the press would certainly leave fans bemused and utterly speechless.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb former Spurs striker Emmanuel Adebayor could be closing in on a shock return to White Hart Lane.

According to the report, the Spurs hierarchy have contacted Adebayor, who’s currently a free agent, and have tabled a pay as you play deal, which the Togo striker is now mulling over.

The 32-year-old, saw his contract terminated in North London, only last September, with a subsequent loan move to Crystal Palace not working out, after the striker failed to prove his worth to Eagles boss Alan Pardew.

Whilst Mauricio Pochettino could do with another striker as his side challenge on four fronts this season, the decision to sign a player who was deemed surplus to requirements, and who the club actually paid off to leave early, doesn’t really make much sense.

In the aftermath of hearing this transfer link, Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to have their say, on the striker’s rumoured return to White Hart Lane.
