Four major Premier League clubs in transfer tug of war to sign Atletico Madrid superstar Antoine Griezmann next summerPublished September 19, 2016
It seems like the summer of 2017 will certainly be one to remember as far as the Premier League transfer window is concerned.
With the 2016 summer window only being shut for a matter of weeks, it appears as though some of England’s top clubs are already preparing for future big money moves to take place between now and next year.
One particular name, which is reportedly on the wish-list of the Premier League’s elite is Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann.
The French superstar has been linked heavily to Manchester United and Arsenal this summer, with previous reports suggesting that United have already made Griezmann their number one target for 2017 (read earlier story here).
But according to a report from the Daily Star, other English clubs are set to enter the race to sign the La Liga target man next summer, leading to one of the biggest transfer tug of wars in Premier League history.
The Star claims that mega-rich Manchester City and Chelsea are also thought to be keen on the 25-year-old, and both sides will look to prize Griezmann away from Atletico next summer.
It’s understood that the interest from England’s big clubs is likely to drive up the forward’s price to somewhere in the region of £80m.
Griezmann, 25, parted company with his agents – Grupo Santos – last week and announced he will handle future deals himself, along with his father Alain and trusted aid Eric Olhats.
Atletico boss Diego Simeone also revealed he could quit the club at the end of next season, after reducing his contract, and any departure by Simeone may see Griezmann decide to leave the Vicente Calderon too.
Whilst there is no early front runner for the striker’s signature, it will certainly be interesting to see which Premier club, if any, Antoine Griezmann decides to join in 2017.
We already can’t wait to see how this one plays out!
