Incoming boss Jose Mourinho has already forked out over £60m to bring in Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Villarreal and Borussia Dortmund respectively and may well be advised that further signings need to be offset with player sales, especially given the sheer size of the Man United squad, here are five players he can happily offload to help cover transfer costs.

Juan Mata

Juan Mata £26m

Jose Mourinho sold Juan Mata during their shared time at Chelsea and it’s highly likely that the Spaniard will be on his way out and Everton are believed to have already made an opening offer for the cultured attacking midfielder.

Ashley Young Man United

Ashley Young £12m

Arguably the England winger has only occasionally proven himself as a valuable member of the Manchester United set-up and is sure to be little more than a bit part player in Jose Mourinho’s first team squad and as such now might be the right time to cash-in.

Marcos Rojo £12m

The versatile Argentine, who can play at centre-back or on the flank, may struggle to force his way into Mourinho’s back-line given the arrival of Eric Bailly as a likely central defensive starter. The 26-year-old has good sell-on potential and there are a few sides already sniffing around the former Sporting Lisbon man.
