Ex-Arsenal midfielder wants Jack Wilshere signed up on long-term deal
Over halfway through his season-long loan at Bournemouth, Jack Wilshere is receiving praise by many within the game.
Tipped as being Arsenal’s most promising midfielder some time ago, injuries proved to be a hindrance to Wilshere’s development as a player, but that has not stopped Eddie Howe and Pep Guardiola singing his praise.
Howe recently admitted that he would love to sign Wilshere on a permanent deal but made it clear no talks have took place to make it happen.
Granted Wilshere wasn’t injury prone, the 25-year-old would have no shortage of interest throughout Europe.
However, ex-Arsenal midfielder and Co-Founder of Play With A Legend Perry Groves wants to see the Gunners take Wilshere back from his loan spell at the end of the season and offer him a new long-term deal.
“Jack Wilshere at the top of his game gets into the Arsenal starting eleven — and whether that would be as one of the holding midfielders in the centre when [Arsene] Wenger plays his 4-2-3-1 system, or even Wilshere is going to have to play as a number 10 in the middle of a three,” said Groves.
“Pep Guardiola quite rightly is a big fan of Wilshere because he can remember him playing against Barcelona in 2011. He was the best midfield player on the pitch in both legs and when you consider Barcelona had Xavi, Iniesta, and Busquets in the team that’s a big accolade.
“If I was Arsenal, and he could get back to those levels, I would sign Wilshere on a long-term deal.”
