England fans slam Sam Allardyce & players after 1-0 win v Slovakia [Tweets]Published September 5, 2016
It seems like the hurt of EURO 2016 still lives on in the minds of England supporters.
That certainly appeared the case on social media on Sunday, after fans expressed their dismay at the national team, despite a last gasp victory away to Slovakia, in their opening 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign.
Adam Lallana capped Sam Allardyce’s debut as England manager with a stoppage-time goal to secure a 1-0 World Cup qualifying win over 10-man Slovakia in Group F.
The Liverpool midfielder struck in the fifth minute of added on time in Trnava on Sunday to snatch all three points for the Three Lions, with his low strike creeping under Matus Kozacik.
Lallana’s heroics saved England from a frustrating draw at the City Arena, in a 90 minutes, which offered more questions than answers as far as the national team are concerned.
Wayne Rooney’s future and position were again thrown into question, whilst Harry Kane, and Theo Walcott were not immune from criticism themselves.
All in all the feeling amongst England supporters seems very mixed, despite a victorious start to ‘Big Sam’s’ reign in charge.
