Cristiano Ronaldo reacts angrily to being substituted for Real Madrid (Tweets & Video)
Cristiano Ronaldo reacted very angrily to being substituted last night.
Despite only recently returning from the knee injury he picked up in the Euro 2016 final, the forward was unhappy to be brought off by Zinedine Zidane with 20 minutes of Real Madrid’s 2-2 draw with Las Palmas, still to play.
The 31-year-old appeared to mutter to himself in frustration as he made his way from the pitch to the Real Madrid dugout at around the 70th minute mark.
He was clearly annoyed to have been brought off by his manager, however, speaking after the game, Zidane his reasons for substituting the multi Ballon d’Or winner.
“It was not that he was playing badly. We are playing on Tuesday and Cristiano must rest too sometimes. It was just for that. He was playing well. Tonight I took him off thinking of Tuesday’s game.” Said Zidane.
Zidane was then asked whether he thought the player’s ‘angry’ reaction was a cause for concern, to which he answered: “Angry? That would be your interpretation. He always wants to be on the pitch. We have to take him out sometimes, and we did today. It does not change anything.”

Cristiano Ronaldo wasn't frustrated at being subbed off, he was frustrated because of not scoring & helping the team. Period.— AD (@Goaldric) September 25, 2016
The thing about Ronaldo being subbed is now he's gonna go deadlift a 800 for a week then score a hattrick next game. Not worried.— J (@notRonaIdo) September 24, 2016
Rooney dropped from the starting XI and Ronaldo subbed off on the same day. What next? Messi to not score in a game?— Hassan Cheema (@mediagag) September 24, 2016
I'm still in shock, Ronaldo got subbed off? Hope we see this more often— TK8 (@Kroosology) September 24, 2016
