Cristiano Ronaldo has decided to leave Real Madrid and Spanish football, according to newspaper reports in Portugal.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola stunned the football world this morning after claiming the Real Madrid talisman is angry at his treatment by Spanish tax authorities and has expressed his wish to leave the country.

Spanish prosecutors have accused Ronaldo of defrauding the authorities of €14.7 million in tax, an accusation Ronaldo has denied.

In November 2016, Ronaldo signed a five-year contract extension but that may now be seen as a regret from the player’s perspective.

Ronaldo played a starring role in  Madrid’s season, scoring 38 goals as they retained the Champions League and won the La Liga title for the first time since 2012.
