Chelsea are willing to let out-of-favour star leave on loanPublished November 2, 2016
Chelsea are willing to let an out-of-favour star leave the club on loan in January, according to the Times. Cesc Fabregas has played less than 90 minutes in the Premier League this season with Antonio Conte believing that the Spaniard doesn’t fit into his system. He wants to eventually move him on to bring someone else in.
In the short-term, that will have to be a loan deal.
The official reason for Fabregas being unavailable for the Blues’ last three league wins has been a thigh injury. Some cynics doubt the severity of this knock and attribute his absence to the fact that he’s fallen so far down the pecking order. It’s a far cry from when he arrived at Stamford Bridge.
A €33 million signing from Barcelona, the midfielder was key to Chelsea’s 2015 league title win. In the first half of that season, he was exceptional. However, by the business end of that campaign, there were already signs of things to come.
The decline was steep and carried through the entirety of last season.
This lack of effort could be why Conte doesn’t trust Fabregas. As one of the club’s highest earners, offloading him has become imperative.
AC Milan are said to be interested in signing him.
Good to be back with the team. A little bit short for Sunday but feeling great. ???? pic.twitter.com/g2AWw4Fyf8— Cesc Fàbregas Soler (@cesc4official) October 28, 2016
