Chelsea target mega-money £86.1m move for striking sensation
Chelsea are the latest Premier League side to keep tabs on Torino striker Andrea Belotti after failing to clinch a deal for Swansea’s Fernando Llorente, according to the London Evening Standard.
The Blues are in the hunt for a striker after rumours intensified over top scorer Diego Costa’s future earlier this month and were initially interested in Llorente, who worked with boss Antonio Conte at Juventus.
Reports suggest Chelsea are willing to make 23-year-old Belotti, who has scored 14 goals in Serie A so far this season, the second most expensive player in football history by matching the £86.1million buyout clause in his contract.
Earlier in January, it was said Arsenal had bid in the region of £55million for Belotti, who is one of the most highly-rated players in Europe right now, per Sky Sports,
Chelsea lead the Premier League table by seven points and could extend that gap by beating Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday night.
