Chelsea striker set to sign new bumper contract at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea striker Diego Costa is set to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge despite speculation linking him with a move to Chins in January, per The Sun.
According to the article, the Spain striker and his agents have reached an agreement with the Blues over a £220,000-per-week five-year deal plus bonuses.
Costa is currently Chelsea’s top scorer in the Premier League with 15 goals as they lead the table by eight points and charge towards a second title in three years under boss Antonio Conte.
The deal would see Costa become the club’s highest paid player, overtaking Cesc Fabregas.
There was intense speculation that he would leave Chelsea to move to the Chinese Super League, with a feud between him and Conte occurring when a £30million-per-year-deal didn’t happen last month.
