Chelsea set to make £40m bid for Spurs star Christian Eriksen as contract talks stallPublished August 26, 2016
Hold on to your hats folks, as the last week of this summer’s transfer window could be an absolute corker.
The closing stages of the transfer window usually brings about a surprise or two, and this summer suggests no different.
According to reports on social media, the ‘Big surprise’ could be developing in North London.
Chelsea are understood to be interested in Spurs star Christian Eriksen and are preparing a bid in the region of £40m, to try and convince the North London club to sell before the end of August.
The Danish midfielder has been one of Tottenham’s key players over the last couple of seasons, but early indications this season suggest the player is not entirely happy at White Hart Lane.
Talks over a new contract for the 24-year-old have reportedly stalled, as the midfielder has demanded a salary which would make him the top earner at the club.
Spurs’ reluctance to offer such a deal, has encouraged Chelsea to make a move for the player, and it’s believed that Antonio Conte has instructed the Chelsea hierarchy to do all they can to land the talented Dane.
Surely Spurs wouldn’t let him leave?
