The Italian manager is looking to bring in a fresh striking option and has set his sights on England international Kane and though any move to lure the 23-year-old from a London rival could prove problematic the Stamford Bridge side may feel confident of their chances of pulling off the transfer coup.
Kane has been in contract talks for the past few months, despite being tied down to a long-term deal that runs until 2010, and this could a way in for Chelsea, who clearly have funds to blow Tottenham out of the water when it comes to a salary offer.
The London born marksman bagged 25 Premier League goals last season to finish as the English top tier’s leading scorer and this was after a previous campaign where the Spurs man had finished second to Aguero.
In short, Kane is arguably the most consistent goal-scorer in the Premier League and wants a contract that reflects that and currently his deal, said to be a fairly below average £60k a week is some way below is true value.
In comparison Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy earns £120k a week whilst Liverpool bench warmer makes £140k a week and Chelsea are ready to top both those sums to lure Kane next summer.
Chelsea are thought to be ready to offer as much as £65m for Kane and could look to supplement any offer with a player exchange though Mauricio Pochettino will no doubt fight tooth and nail to keep hold of the player.
Kane has racked up 70 goals in 126 appearances for Tottenham and should his side fail to secure a Champions League berth for 2017/18 then perhaps a move away from the club he has represented since the age of 11 could prove plausible.
Conte is very dependent on Diego Costa for firepower at present and the Chelsea manager seems reticent to over-use new addition Michy Batshuayi in anything other than a supporting role.
