Chelsea to offer two Blues stars as bait in £67m player swap bid for Romelu LukakuPublished August 1, 2016
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte continues to push on with efforts to lure former Blues forward Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge and is readying a second offer for the Belgian.
Conte has seen a massive £57m bid for the 23-year-old striker turned down and will look to use two of his squad stars as potential makeweights in cash plus player deal.
The West London side will offer a significant cash sum plus forward Loic Remy and winger Victor Moses in a move Conte hopes will tempt new Toffees manager Ronald Koeman to sell.
Conte wants Lukaku to feature prominently in his new look Chelsea attack and expects to find a buyer for Diego Costa to help further balance the books.
Chelsea have lost the financial benefits of Champions League involvement in 2016/17 and as such owner Roman Abramovich is looking to cover transfer market moves with funds made from player sales as far as is possible.
The Italian boss has a big squad at present and can certainly afford to trim this in order to make ends meet.
Chelsea have already brought in Michy Batshuayi in a £33m deal from Marseille as well as defensive midfielder N’Golo Kante, who arrived from champions Leicester City in a deal said to be in the region of £32m.
Lukaku barely got a chance to impress in his first spell at Chelsea before he was sent out on successful loan stints at West Bromwich Albion and Everton, leading to a permanent £28m move to Merseyside, and the burly marksman scored 25 goals in all competitons last season.
