Chelsea could lose talismanic figure to Italian giants
Italian sleeping giants AC Milan are looking to flaunt their new riches by striking a deal for Chelsea striker Diego Costa, per the Daily Star.
Costa, 28, scored 20 goals on the way to helping the Blues win the Premier League title in Antonio Conte’s debut season this year, re-establishing his reputation following on from a poor campaign in 2015/16.
But it was not all plain sailing, with a move to China and even a return to Atletico Madrid mooted at different points over the last few months.
The Spain striker has reaffirmed his desire to stay at Stamford Bridge for as long as he is wanted, but Milan could look to strike a deal nonetheless.
Having been taken over by a Chinese consortium recently, Milan do have the money to attract the level of players required to get them back to the Champions League, a competition they have not played in for three years.
Diego Costa says he would only leave #Chelsea for Atletico. Atletico have their transfer ban upheld. Music to my ears. ?— Chelsea HQ ? (@Chelsea_HQ) June 1, 2017
The Rossoneri are also closing in on signing Liverpool target Ricardo Rodriguez from Wolfsburg, with the player arriving in Italy to complete a deal on Tuesday.
