Chelsea to launch stunning £48m bid for Arsenal star: Gunners wide-man in contract talks
Chelsea are preparing an audacious move to sign Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin as the Blues seek to drastically improve their defensive options.
21-year-old wide-man Bellerin has been locked in contract talks with the Gunners for a number of weeks and has been strongly linked with apparent interest from Man City and this may well have led to Chelsea’s apparent interest in the former Barcelona youth team star.
Bellerin is arguably one of the best right-sided defenders in the Premier League and has steadily matured into a hugely effective member of Arsene Wenger’s starting eleven.
The Spanish international may well now be one of the first names on Wenger’s team-sheet but Chelsea hope that the offer of a massive pay-rise could tempt him into making a move from North to West London.
Barcelona are also tracking Bellerin, having allowed the locally born La Masia Academy graduate to leave back in 2011.
Chelsea are ready to offer as much as £48m for Bellerin as owner Roman Abramovich seeks to make strong additions to improve Antonio Conte’s squad.
Branislav Ivanovic has struggled in the right-back spot over the past 18 months and the Serbian is said to be on his way out and Bellerin would prove to be an ideal replacement.
Bellerin has already racked up 80 appearances for Arsenal and was practically an ever present last term.
The speedy wing-back is as effective in the final third as he is in a defensive role and it’s that well rounded ability that has led to an ever growing interest in his talents.
