Chelsea closing in on £25m signing of Croatian midfielder Marcelo BrozovicPublished August 31, 2016
It looks like Chelsea may finally get their man.
According to the Daily Mail, the Blues are on the verge of completing the signing of Marcelo Brozovic from Internazionale.
The two clubs are believed to have agreed a fee of around £25million, with the midfielder set to sign a four-year deal at Stamford Bridge.
Brozovic has just recently signed permanently for the Serie A club following an 18-month-long loan spell, yet is free to leave following the arrival of Joao Mario.
The Croatian midfielder impressed many at Euro 2016, prompting interest from many clubs across Europe, including the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal.
But it’s understood that Chelsea were the most keen on signing the 23-year-old, and after tracking him throughout the summer, it looks as though they have finally got their man.
There were initial reports in the week, that the West London side were keen on including Spaniard Cesc Fabregas in any potential deal for Brozovic, but it looks as though Fabregas will not be included in the deal.
It will be interesting to see if the signing of Marcelo Brozovic proves to be only piece of business Chelsea do on deadline day, with rumours running rife that PSG defender David Luiz could be set for a sensational return to Stamford Bridge before the end of the window.
