Chelsea close in on signing of former Juventus defender Martin Caceres on a free transferPublished September 5, 2016
Despite the transfer window being closed, it appears as though Chelsea boss Antonio Conte isn’t quite finished yet adding to his squad.
According to reports out of Italy, Conte, is mulling over a move for his former Juventus defender Martin Caceres after the Uruguayan defender failed to find himself a new club over the summer.
The centre-back left Serie A champions Juventus at the end of last summer when his contract expired and is yet to find a new club.
The likes of Inter Milan, AC Milan Roma and Napoli were reportedly in talks to sign the 29-year-old but all failed to reach an agreement.
And according to Italian Calciomercato, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is looking to for a reunion with Caceres at Stamford Bridge.
The Italia boss was busy in the last week of the transfer window, signing former Chelsea defender David Luiz from Paris Saint-Germain for £32million on transfer deadline day but it’s believed that he is still keen to bolster his defensive options.
Conte, who worked with Caceres during his time in charge of Juventus, has reportedly contacted the experienced centre-back to find out whether a move to West London is a real possibility.
