Chelsea close in on £60m Ace as £40m forward looks set for Blues exitPublished July 31, 2016
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is confident he will secure the signing of Romelu Lukaku this summer with the Blues set to put in a second bid for the Everton man in the coming days according to the Daily Express.
The 23-year-old Belgian left Stamford Bridge for Goodison Park in a £28m move, after a strong loan spell on Merseyside, two years ago and Chelsea have already failed with a reported £57m bid for the Belgian international.
Conte will now sanction a £60m offer for Lukaku and the bulk of that outlay will be covered by the likely sale of Diego Costa, with the Brazilian born Spanish international set to return to Atletico Madrid in a £40m deal.
Lukaku impressed last season, netting 25 goals in all competitions, and the burly forward has racked up 61 goals in 127 appearances for Everton in total.
Chelsea have already brought in Michy Batshuayi to boost their front-line and Conte may have ambitions to partner the two fellow countrymen in a new-look attack.
Last season Chelsea fell to a tenth place finish and were found wanting in the final third and as such it’s not a huge surprise that Conte would look to rectify this problem area of his squad.
