BREAKING: Barcelona will make stunning £67m move to sign Arsenal star as Neymar replacement: Squad number offered, contact tabled
Barcelona will react to the stunning developments over Neymar’s future by looking to re-sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal this summer.
In the most amazing transfer deal in history, and not because it will cost Paris Saint-Germain £200million to secure, Neymar looks all set to depart the Camp Nou as he looks to better his chances of being crowned the world’s best player away from the shadow of teammate, and good friend, Lionel Messi.
Clearly the Blaugrana were not ready for or expecting this saga this summer, and their hope was clearly to build a team around the 25-year-old as Messi and the other member of their striking trident, Luis Suarez, both approach the end of their careers after turning 30.

But contingency plans are being put in place for the Brazilian’s exit. His international teammate Philippe Coutinho is a reported target, but rumours suggest a familiar face to Barça fans is on the radar; Alexis Sanchez.
The 28-year-old Chilean has become one of the Premier League’s best players since leaving Barcelona for Arsenal in 2014, but he looks all set to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer. His contract has just one year to run, and a number of clubs, including PSG, Bayern Munich and Manchester City have all been tracking his situation. With no news over a new deal for him in North London, it is becoming patently clear that Sanchez wants to leave. Champions League football, and the lack there of at Arsenal, could be a huge factor in his thinking.
Speculation suggests Barcelona have contacted Sanchez’s entourage to discuss a return to Catalunya, while a squad number may have already been offered. It would be a bizarre move, though, with Sanchez moving away from the club originally because he wasn’t a major star; Neymar’s presence all but brought his career in Spain to an end and rarely did he look like being a big part of the club’s plans.
That said, Sanchez may be in a better place to succeed this time, with more experience and ability to turn up in the big games. He would also be a cheaper option than Coutinho, with £67million said to be the price on the table rather than £100million for the Liverpool star.
Despite Arsene Wenger’s insistence that he and Arsenal are in control of the situation, the player holds all the cards. If he decides to leave, now is the last chance they will get of receiving any sort of decent fee for him, and while Wenger is correct in saying they do not need to sell, it would be extremely detrimental to his side’s progress if he does leave.
A lot has been speculated about Alexis Sanchez this summer and it has become clear he wants to leave Arsenal. But if he were to return to Barcelona to replace hid original replacement, it would certainly catch everyone off guard.
